What did I learn today? Well, you don’t even have to go looking for anything to find inspiration. All you need to do is relax, take a breather and step back from the world you’re living in and take it all in.
I find the inspiration to write that through what we learned today about J.K. Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter series. I have never read the series of Harry Potter, but I’ve definitely been a huge fan of the movie series.
Being in Edinburgh made learning about Rowling almost magical due to the reason she found her own inspiration to stir up the series here in this same city. We walked around the city where she wrote and even used ideas from monuments here that we were able to see today as well.
The reason behind the series starting up is a four hour train layover from Manchester to London; what would happen to my mind if I had that long of a lay over? She wrote her ideas on napkins and other sources to create the billion dollar franchise of Harry Potter.
Though these were just ideas, she had other inspirations from the Edinburgh Castle, the places she wrote, the people she saw and the graves the deceased lived in. Inspiration is anywhere you look, but in order to see it, maybe you need that four hour layover regardless if you are waiting for a train, or just life.
Sitting inside the cafe, Spoons, made me think where in life would I go to just think and write?
