19 Girls (& Aron), No Wifi

By Morgan Lauer

Today we began our 3-day bus tour through West Ireland. We drove along the coast and through the mountains the entire way. Our first stop was Giant’s Causeway. We hiked along the cliffs and it was unbelievably beautiful. Our next stop was Dunluce Castle, and then to the Dark Hedges where the Game of Thrones was filmed. Even though I have never seen the show, it was still cool to see something that has been on tv across the world. At the end of the day we crossed a suspension briIMG_6148dge that connected some sea cliffs. It was super windy so it was a little scary going across, but definitely an experience I will never forget.

Tonight we are staying in a very small town. The population is only 160. It’s cool to be able to experience these small authentic towns as well as the bigger cities.

We are currently sitting in the living room trying to make the wifi work. Our tour guides were joking about how American’s love wifi, which is actually pretty sad. It’s so natural for us to be on social media or texting constantly. It’s funny because we feel like it’s the end of the world without wifi, but these people live without it all the time. There is an apparent difference in values. Being in this hostel tonight is actually pretty humbling for us all. It forces us to be consumed by the amazing trip we are experiencing and the people surrounding us, rather than our phones the entire time.

Tomorrow is our second day of the bus tour and we are going to see one of the tallest sea cliffs in the world.
