OMG road trip!

By Brooke Segal

With a bright and early wake up call, I had no idea what to expect for the weekend. Many of us thought we were sleeping on a bus for three days, but that wasn’t the case. Today started our three-day road trip through Northern Ireland. I have to say I have never seen land so beautiful.

Despite my lack of sleep lately, I was fighting falling asleep with all the beautiful scenery. Being the generation that we are, all everyone was talking about was Wi-Fi, and when we would be in-touch with everyone back in the States. I was trying hard not to get caught up in the digital world. When we arrived to Giants Causeway Coastal Walk. The breathtaking views made everyone forget about the lack of Wi-Fi for the day. It is crazy what Mother Nature can do as the cliffs were once shaped by an active volcano. Making our way back from the walk and to the bus, we spotted a man in a MSU Spartan hat. We are half way around the world and there is a fellow Spartan standing right in front of us. Crazy! The adventure continued as we stopped at the Dunlace Castle. walking down the windy path to the castle was eerie as people walked those same steps a thousand years ago.

The last stop of the day was the Dark Hedges  where Game of Thrones was once filmed. The world may be very distant and countries may have their differences, but one thing that is constant is mass media. Television shows are loved all over the world. Back in Belfast, we fell asleep to Keeping Up with the Kardashians, as it was the only thing on TV. In the groceries, magazines covered the wall of Beyoncé and Jay Z. I realized celebrities are famous throughout the world due to the media.

Here’s to the Shamrocker!
