Today was our group’s third day in Dublin, Ireland. Like the previous day, our plan was to try to do as many things on our Dublin Pass as possible. We knew that we were going to Dublin Castle and the Jameson Distillery, but we weren’t sure what we would end up doing in between. We ended up also visiting St. Patrick’s Cathedral and Trinity College. One of my favorite experiences of the day was definitely walking through the castle and actually hearing the sound of silence. The acoustics were so good in the beautiful rooms that even with people talking at a distance you could still hear the sound of emptiness in the rooms, it was very relaxing. After this, we found our way to St. Patrick’s Cathedral. What impressed me the most about this place was the beauty of the old architecture and the complexity of it. From here we headed to one Ireland’s most famous schools, Trinity College. Some of the students went into the library. I, on the other hand, decided to take a seat, appreciate the views, and do some people watching. After this, it was time for our last activity, the tour of the Jameson Distillery. The previous day we had gone to the Guinness Storehouse, so I was expecting something similar. To my surprise, however, this tour was smaller, guided, and more in depth. Something that I really enjoyed was how they let us feel and smell each individual ingredient. They also did a great job explaining how it was part of the process. Another part of the tour that I really liked was the tasting. They set up three different types of Whiskey and explained the difference between Jameson and the rest. Then they let us taste all three to see what differences we could notice and to see if we could taste the ingredients that we explored earlier. I think it was very interesting and cool that they let us taste the others to let us find our ourselves if Jameson was better. We ended the tour at JJ’s bar with a refreshing mix of Jameson, Lime, and Ginger Ale. Today was another successful adventure in Dublin, and we managed to knock quite a few more activities off of our list.
