Seafood

on

Today was my first time trying authentic seafood and I loved it! Usually when I eat seafood, I eat things such as fish, fried shrimp and calamari. Those are all great but I’ve always wanted to venture out and try more. Well today was the day.

For some odd reason, today I had a craving for seafood. Being here in the UK for the past two weeks have been a bit of a struggle for me because every restaurant tends to serve the same things, and I have grown tired of eating the same foods such as burgers, chicken and fries. So, the only option left was seafood.

Luckily, there was a seafood restaurant near by with great prices called, Chandlers. For starters, we ordered a dish of crispy white bait. When Malaika looked up a picture of the dish online, it looked like regular fried fish. We were in shock when we were brought a plate of legit fried bait fish. We decided to give it a try. I must say, it is definitely an acquired taste.

Malaika decided that one was just enough for her. She couldn’t stomach the fact that she was still able to see the fishes face through the batter. I on the other hand, really enjoyed them, so I took them off of her hands.

My main dish was pasta that consisted of mussels and clams. I was a bit nervous to try them because the texture has a slimy consistency. I also know that most people either like or love mussels and clams. I must say, I really enjoyed the clams. Originally, the mussels were good, but the more I ate them, the nastier they became.

I am so glad that I put myself out there to try new foods. One of the goals that I set for myself on this trip was to try new foods, and I had quite a success doing just that. The next items on the seafood list that I wish to try is caviar and oysters.
