Day Trip to Cambridge-By Courtney Kellogg
Once again, another early morning for our group this Thursday. We made our way this morning to King’s Cross Station and took an hour train ride to Cambridge. Our professor, Sue Carter, gave us a quick tour of Cambridge. We were shown Emmanuel College and got to see the beautiful but small chapel. The chapel was surrounded by small gardens and large areas of green grass.
Our group then made our way towards the River Cam where the famous punting boats are. These boats are able to fit six people including one person punting the boat. “Punting” is considered rowing while standing and using a long stick to go forward in the river. Our group had a little trouble rowing at first, but then got the hang of it after a while. It was a beautiful day to take a boat trip on River Cam! I would recommend this to anyone who goes to Cambridge.
After our boat trip, we headed over to Market Mill and went to the Cambridge Market. This market was full of various things like smoothies, clothes, sandwiches, and more. There was so much to look at and choose from.
After the market, we headed over to King’s College Chapel. This chapel was gigantic and had beautiful stained glass all along the building walls. As we walked through the chapel, the organ played a spooky but beautiful tune.
It was then time to head back to the train station. Our next stop is to a pub to watch the England and Belgium game!
